The reason people like WordPress and blogging platforms in general is because of the interactivity. There are some many additional things a blogging platform lends vs. static web pages – like comments and RSS feeds, image uploads, tagging, and more. Since the advent of social sites like “digg” web visitors are used to being able to “vote” on things and contributing to a blog or web site. Sometimes it’s easier to get someone to quickly click a rating than it is to get them to leave an actual comment.
This is where WordPress rating and reviews come into play! We should quickly explain the different between reviews and ratings. Keep in mind that even plugin authors occasionally get these wrong, but there are differences between the two. Ratings are basically user votes. A review is a hard-set author score for something that users can’t vote on. That’s it! Now we’ll show you 4 different types of ratings and reviews plugins to try out on your WordPress powered site!
GD Star Ratings: GD Star Ratings is both a ratings and review system that you can install via WordPress plugin. Very full featured, you can rate comments, posts, and pages with ajax support, moderate votes, auto-insert voting codes, save votes in cookies, track user trends, IP’s andn agent data, shortcode support, and even export date into a CSV file. It even has RSS integration for voting in your feeds. I don’t think you’ll find a more fully featured voting and ratings plugin than GD Star Ratings.
WP Post Ratings: Lester Chan has a LOT of plugins, and post ratings has been around a long time. You can manually add the rating code to any of your theme pages you’d like to on post, pages, category or tag pages, etc. It’s a very simple and easy to use wordpress ratings system.
Mombly Review Rating: Mombly Review Rating is another simple plugin that allows post and page reviews (by the author). Even though it’s called a rating plugin, it only does reviews. Implementation is via shortcodes.
Ratings Shorttags Plugin: Ratings Shorttags plugin for WordPress is actually another “review” plugin for authors. The difference between this one and others is that by using shortcodes an ASCII code shows the text image instead of using graphics.
Visitor Like / Dislike Post and Comment Ratings: This plugin is a bit different from the others because it offers uses a simple like / dislike choice instead of traditional scale based ratings.

It would be nice if you could post examples of these plugins as they appear in a blog. Asking us to download a plugin without knowing how it appears is asking a bit much.
I have been searching for the perfect vote plugin and found one I like very much. The only problem is that the developer posted it to a developer site but failed to leave a download link or his contact info.

My favorite is GD Star plugin, but they update it costantly, and often it doesn’t work for me in Internet Explorer. But when it works it is great.
