There will come a day when you will need a WordPress Find and Replace plugin. You might change your domain name, change your categories, change your permalinks, put your blog in a sub-folder, maybe you need to change affiliate links in certain posts…and the list goes on and on. Who wants to edit dozens or hundreds of posts by hand?

Consider using a WordPress Search and Replace Plugin to get the job done. Change tags, category description, comments email, comment url, or search through titles, meta data, and posts.

If you need something more complex maybe the Search Regex Plugin. It can do a simple search and replace, as well as advanced regular expression search and replaces. It has the ability to search preview as well as inline placing. The cool thing about it is that is has full support for WordPress roles, you only have the ability to search and replace roles you have access to.

Maybe you’re the guy that doesn’t want a plugin – you want to get down and dirty with the code and do some mySQL searches directly in phpMyAdmin. Barry Wise will help you Find and Replace in WordPress using mySQL. Also, Brock Angelo can teach you How to Search and Replace WordPress custom fields.

Have you tried a different way to search and replace things in WordPress? Let’s hear about it!
