The tweetable Wordpress twitter plugin has nearly all of the features you will want to integrate twitter with your blog. Once enabled it adds a “twitter badge” (like the one on this post) similar to a “digg this” button. Once you get at least one twit, it turns into a “retweet” button, and also displays the numbers of twits after the post content.

Tweetable has Twitter API level integration, which allows it to pull your last tweets into your sidebar via a configurable widget. You choose how many tweets it gets, and it also displays your number of followers. Tweetable is the plugin we use here on WP Dir to connect with our twitter account automatically. In fact, it also auto-twits all your posts on your twitter profile for you, and in the admin page for the plugin you can even twitter directly from there, as well as search twitter.
