Just added to the Wordpress Directory “Platinum SEO Pack”. It’s a fork of All in One SEO pack, and has bunches of options AIO does not. We use Platinum SEO pack on this blog because it features “onsite SEO”. You have fine grained control of duplicate content, and page indexing by having the ability to nofollow, index, noindex, follow or nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet, noodp, noydi – ANY post or page in your Wordpress site. You can override any meta descriptions or keywords for any post or page.
All those are great reasons, but I’ll tell you the one single reason that you should be using Platinum SEO pack. 301 REDIRECTS! You can change your permalinks any time you want and NEVER have broken links, because Platinum SEO will automatically issue a 301 redirect! Sorry, there isn’t a single plugin out there (for free) that does what Platinum SEO pack does. Toss out whatever you’re using and give Platinum SEO Pack a try.

The 301 redirect functionality in Platinum doesn’t actually do anything. The code for it was copied from an outdated plugin (just like everything else in there is copied from a few other plugins). Test it for yourself http://www.internetofficer.com/seo-tool/redirect-check/.
WordPress has had redirection built in since version 2.3. The only plugin that actually does what your wanting is http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/
