I’ve been using this “Insights” plugin a lot lately by Vladimir Prelovac.  Once installed it adds a section right below your text box when writing new posts, and you can do research right there without having to open up any new tabs or a new window.  You can add images from flickr, add youtube videos, add links from wikipedia, even search google books and google news (or google blog search).
